2020 Spring – Origami

Origami is a handmade art that originated in China. However, modern origami has been more researched and developed by the Japanese. In order to better understand this craft and learn the culture and technology behind it, I started an independent study on origami in this semester, supervised by Ellen Do.

Before the semester began, there was an origami artifact that has been widely discussed on social networks. With some research, I made this origami in a simpler way, and posted it on my Instagram.

During this semester, I explored many origami possibilities, and below are some summaries of my work at different stages (Click on the picture to read the full text):

Origami with Non-square Paper
Yoshizawa–Randlett System
Origami for a wind sensor
Pop-up Book
Origami with Fluid
